Creation 2 Curation: Podcasting in Your Classroom

Monday, June 30, 3 – 4 p.m.

Now more than ever, reaching and meeting the needs of students, families, and your school is difficult. Podcasting can play many roles within a classroom to meet those varied needs. We will work with attendees to create a podcast platform for their classroom that fits a variety of purposes to support students, families, and fellow educators. From there, they will create an initial podcast to introduce themselves to the world. Attendees will learn how to push out their podcasts to various listening platforms and promote their episodes.

Podcasting as a Pedagogical Tool: Amplifying Student Voices and Enhancing Learning

This session will teach educators how to integrate podcasting into their curriculum, guiding them through setup, production, and student engagement strategies. Attendees will learn to create podcast assignments, explore practical classroom applications, and leave with a completed lesson plan and resource guide for implementing podcasting in their teaching.
 

Bringing Stories to Life: Old-School Radio Dramas in the Elementary Classroom

Learn how to guide students in scripting, voice acting, and producing their own audio stories. Attendees will receive tools and ideas to implement immediately in their classrooms.
 

Crafting Character Playlists: Music That Resonates with Literary Journeys

Monday, June 30, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

In this session, attendees will learn how to guide students in creating a podcast that explores character playlists. Participants will discover techniques for facilitating song selection, narrative development, and peer interviews. By integrating music analysis with audio storytelling, educators will enhance students' communication skills and deepen their literary understanding.

Embedding Instructional Technology in the Music Classroom

Monday, June 30, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

This session, designed for coaches supporting elementary and secondary music teachers, will demonstrate ways to use apps for a variety of assessments or composition projects. I will provide attendees with directions, tutorials, and templates aligned to NAfME standards. Attendees do not need musical experience to attend this session.
